Re: spotting scope objective??

TC,
While what you are saying is technically correct, the lens coatings will determine how much light gets through. Also, optical quality is a major part. A 65mm Swaro, Leica, or Zeiss will be better than a Bushnell, Nikon, Cabelas, etc., 80mm spotter.

Re: new hornady

I was finally able to try the FPB bullets in my Knight DE. I shot them with 110 gr of BH209 and was suprised with the 1.5" group at 100 yards. :thumb I am using this as my back up elk load in a couple weeks. I did not try any longer ranges but feel very comfortable using it to 150-200 yards.

New gun for elk

I decided to buy a new ML for my elk hunt this fall and finally decided on the stainless Omega in a laminated stock. On my first outings with the Omega, I was not very happy. I had to use all of the scope's verticle adjustment to get close to zero. Since scopes rarely perform well at the extremes of...

Re: APP Powder Flask

Have you tried one of these funnel-spouts from TC? I have had good success with them using T7, Pyrodex, and BH209.

I use these vials as speed loaders. they hold a 300 SST, Harvester sabot, and 120 gr of BH209 just perfectly. Low cost, fit in shell loops inside pockets, nice tubes!

Re: new hornady

I hgave some a try with 100 gr of BH209 in my Omega and I was not impressed. The first two shots were 10" apart. I did not waste another primer on them in that gun. I do intend to try them in my Knight Disc Elite this weekend though. One thing to remember if you use them is copper fouling needs to b...

Re: vortex vulture 8x50

I got my 12x50 Vultures (blems) in from Camera Land and they are ok binocs. Not great, but I did not expect great quality glass for that price, but they are ok. The fit and finish are very good, just mediocre optics. Overall I am pleased with the purchase. Definately worth the purchase price.

Re: vortex vulture 8x50

I just ordered the 12x50 Vultures (blem) from Camera Land. I sent my good ones back to Cabela's for exchange and bought these as a backup in case my Leicas don't get back in time. I will let you know what I think once they get here. I figured for that price, why not?

Interesting setup. That thing is huge. What is the total weight of your setup? I did some searching on that scope and there are some mixed reviews.

Re: spotting scope objective??

I had a Cabelas Big Sky 80mm spotter and it was ok. It was very heavy. I sold it and replaced it with a 65mm Zeiss and I am much happier now. The Zeiss is much easier to pack in as it is smaller, lighter, and shorter. I would not get another 80mm spotter. The quality optical coatings will affect the...

Re: cheap spotting scope

I would say save your $ and buy a good quality spotter. You will be much farther ahead that way. If you get a cheap one, you will try it and not like it then want to buy a good one, so you are out the initial investment. If you want something cheap, buy a Burris Fullfield II scope (which is not too ...
