Re: hunting elk
Thanks for your help guys. I got back over to my area last weekend after having done a bunch of research and having taken your advice, but it seems the elk moved. I neither saw nor heard an animal for the first two days. Thinking with the moon that they might be doing their thing at night, I slept o...

hunting elk
I've been having pretty good success during my first year of hunting elk with my bow. Nothing on the ground yet for me (my partners have stuck some good bulls, including a nice 6x6 that was my friends first ever elk) but I've seen lots of elk and managed to call or stalk within 80 yards of three ver...

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Our trip wrapped up as a pretty successfull one. The group ended up with three elk and seven whitetail, including two really nice bucks. My dad did end up hanging his first elk, a large cow on the second day. Great scenery, and since zone 270 is a trophy muley area...

good job, guys. Way to stick with it. The area I was hunting last week was rampant with guys wounding elk and letting them run. We worked with Montana FWP guys and found four cows and a bull in one little area. There were stories all over the valley about a guy who shot and wounded three cows, then ...

Heading to the Bitteroot
We are heading to the Bitteroot Valley tomorrow, chasing bulls for about ten days. Some friends have been killing good bulls since the opener, so hopefully we can follow that up. My dad is coming up from CA to try to get his first elk and whitetail, so I'm really excited to give back for all he's gi...

Wal-mart stopped selling guns and ammo in Northern California after a store in Oakland sold to underage kids(somehow) and they were used in a crime(I talked to a store manager and he confirmed this. Litigation was pending at the time). This may have had a trickle down effect throughout the organizat...

tell me how you did up there! My family has been heading up into the high country around sonora pass since I've been around. Its where I got my first buck, and most of my friends killed their first bucks there too. Nothing too spectacular, although my aunt killed an absolute monster on the west side...
