If the OP is still looking for advice. OP if you are only going to seldomly hunt elk, I would go with the .270. If you can become a good shot with a .270 you should be able to take an elk at 300 yards without a problem. The .270 is the best deer cartridge IMO and it is slightly undersized for Elk wh...

Absolutly not anymore. At least not after I heard of the Model 700 Remingtons and there need to fire without pulling the trigger. I wait till I'm ready to shoot to put a round in, for safety sake. I was really stoked to get a 700 this year too, but after reading a lot of articles about that problem...

Always have one chambered when we are walking around. Only time I don't is when we are in a vehicle. I also have my concealed permit and always have one in the chamber when I am concealing.

My issue wasn't with Doyle. Some people just have different standards when it comes to taking a Big Game animal. I personally could never put a deer or elk on my wall knowing that I did very little of work needed to take down such a great animal. I think we all agree that Mossback isn't a horrible g...
