Re: *Blackhorn 209 prohibited in Utah*

Looks like BH 209 will be legal next fall in Utah. At least that is the recommendation that is being promoted by RAC recommendations: We recommend 3 rule changes to the big game rule R657-5 R657-5-10 Muzzleloaders 1(f) powder and bullet, or powder, sabot and bullet are not bonded together as one uni...

Re: Colorado Muzzy Hunters

Unfortunately, no gun maker currently caters to conicals since so many more people shoot sabots. Those of us who just shoot conicals have to "make do". Although I don't own a CVA, but the Accura and the Optima have good track records with conicals. Knights are also known as good conical shooters. An...

Re: Utah draw

Do you have a hunting license left over from last year to apply on? You probably already know this, but you can apply for two years on one license. Unfortunately mine expired last Feb 22, so I will need to wait until later in the month to apply. That way I can apply at the first of the month next ye...

Re: .50 cal smoke pole bullet

Hornady FPBs are good bullets as well. I have taken two elk with the 350 gr bullet over the last two years. They are a step up from powerbelts since they are a lead alloy instead of pure lead. They also make a 300 gr. That said, I will probably be using the 300 gr Thor next fall in Colorado for elk ...

Re: 45 Cal for Colorado

You might try great plains, no excuses, or maxiballs. all should do well for deer.

Re: Colorado Unit 70

Unit 70 took 1 point to draw a 2nd season tag (aprox 50% chance) and 2 points to draw a 3rd season tag (aprox 50% chance), so he can't choose this unit as a second choice and still get a tag. He will have to use his points and choose it as a first choice.

Re: Colorado unit 75 or 751

The reports from last year didn't seem to indicate that 75 lost that many deer, even with the bad winter, and looking at this year's snowpack in southwestern Colorado seems to indicate that this year is pretty average, so what do you attribute the dead animals you are seeing to?

Re: Colorado Unit 43 "HELP"

But ask the same guy where you can find deer on public land in the 3rd season. I hear that many are down on private by then. As I recall, most of the lower country in 43 is private. Maybe in 35 or 36

Re: COLORADO MUZZLELOADER EQUIPMENT

the first order of business is to see if your Omega will even shoot conicals. Many won't due to the QLA throwing them out of kilter as they exit. The only two that are accurate in my Omega so far has been the Powerbelt and the Hornady FPB. Both have a "skirt" of sorts that seems to stabalize them th...
