Re: This Year Hunting BLM land?

I was worried as well. I googled the question a couple of days ago, and here's some reassurance, at least for Utah.
All the best

Re: First time hunting X3b

What an unselfish post!! Thanks Springville for giving specific details on a hunting location. So many of us are protective of our "spot", but you set a high standard for paying it forward. Best of luck to you tfarmer.

Re: Which Rangefinder??

I bought a Leupold RX1000 TBR on Ebay for $290 a couple of years ago. It's really useful for getting the exact range on fixed landmarks when you are glassing and very quick for setting up for shots. Keep your eyes open on e-bay for some great deals. Mine was used, but in perfect condition. NO regrets.

Re: Bipod vs. Shooting Sticks

I always carry a collapsible stick with me. I can tuck it in behind my back into my belt and take it out quickly for a shot. If I'm in a good waiting spot, with a snag or tree it's still very useful as a bino rest to help in glassing. I've been glad to have it as an offhand rest when shooting as well.

Re: Rifle Slings you like.

A friend of mine (now deceased) designed a sling called the Ching Sling. It's very fast, rock steady and really comfortable. Highly recommended.

Silvies OR, Late season Elk

I've hunted the Silvies before for Mulies, but not Elk. Am heading up there in early November. Any recommendations on tactics and locations. Not interested in your special spots, just general info on what I might expect. I'll be in the Egypt Canyon area and also near the forest fire watchtower peak....

Re: SE Utah hunt 988 General Buck Tag

Happy to help on this. I've hunted west of Ferron in the Manti La Sal Forest a number of times. Its a big area, lots of truck hunters, but you can get some decent hiking into higher elevations. Get up into the hills above Ferron Reservoir, Duck Fork reservoir, and In the flats and ridges near Heliot...

What's the average meat yield on Mule Deer

I've always butchered my own meat, and was curious about this question. If I get a clean kill, with no real loss of usable meat, what % of total body weight in usable meat should I expect from an average mule deer? I have shot many deer, most were small to average in size, but never thought much abo...

Re: Dreaded Utah Emails are out.

Got my Southern tag. Feels good after missing out last year. Will be in the Buckskin Valley area and Cottonwood mountain. Lots of road hunters, but some good places to hike out and get alone. Anyone else going to be in that area?
