Re: 1st season sucess!
Thanks for the vote of confidence.......I have ran into the Sombrero Ranch guys in unit 28 so I was wondering if you were in 28. I know they rent horses and will deliver, I know they also guide hunts in certain units, anyway I'm glad that your hunt was successful. Too bad about not being able to fil...

Re: CO GMU 28
Sorry to return so late.....obviously too late since archery season is over. However, to share my old hot spot....head north of Divide into the burn area from the Hayden fire. I have taken quite a few bulls from the area during the rut in archery season, nothing to hang on the wall but quite a few 5...

Thanks for sharing, it's a good thing to have meat in the freezer. It sounds like you might have been hunting in unit 28. I'm headed out for the thrid season (10/31/09 - 11/6/09), I have a buck tag and an OTC bull tag. My son has a buck tag and a Cow tag and we will be hunting unit 28 near Kelly Cre...

Just wondering if any of you have any feedback on the Winchester XP3 ammunition in the field?

Re: Packing out a deer?
I typically drag my muley back, I have only had to quarter a muley once. It helps if there are two people to drag, makes it much easier. If you plan on tanning the hide, remove the hide and pack out the meat in quarters. I also process my own kill, the quality of the final product is much better whe...

Re: A Few Elk Photos From the Trail Cam and Harvest
Thanks for posting the photos from the trail cam, it brought back memories for me. The funky 4X2 with the drop resembles my first bull taken with a bow. Not a trophy by any means, but it's nice to see that there are other freaks out in the woods.

Re: Tips for northern elk
Sounds like you have done some homework......if you beleive you know where they are that is half the battle, it's all about location and placement. The rut should be to your advantage, so if you position yourself in an area where the elk can be found, I would begin calling them in. A bugle to locate...

Re: NV Bull
It's a wonderful thing to witness your pride and joy successfully harvest an animal. I must say he is a very nice bull for the first bow hunt. Much nicer than my first....a freak rag horn bull that answered my cow call.
Well done to you and your son!!!
