JDave, I thought I would replace the glass but I have to say that the BalVar is pretty impressive for a 1970's vintage scope. Great clarity, fine crosshairs, decent eye box, and not bad parallax adjustment. I don't think I would ever build this particular rifle but I'm certainly glad it came my way ...
