Re: Score this California Bighorn

Those rams are all young rams, inlcuding the largest one. I doubt he's more than a 5 year old ram, and he's not going to make it to 150. He's got potential, but he needs to grow up to acheive it. He's light horned, small bases and thins quickly as he goes out. Length is probably around 28-30", and I...

Re: antelope unit 40

Before the sun comes up, be on a high point that faces westward, and sit there with big binoculars set up on a tripod. Antelope are very easy to see early and late in the day if you're looking away from the sun. If you have good binoculars and put them on a tripod, you can literally see antelope up ...

Re: Danny's unusual 2009 pronghorn

That buck came from the Lassen unit. 45 tags and about 2,500 applicants, toughest part of the hunt is actually drawing the tag.

Danny's unusual 2009 pronghorn

OK, I'm not the most savvy when it comes to this website, so I posted about my son's pronghorn on another one of the forums before realizing that I should have posted it here, so I apologize in advance for posting it on two forums. Anyway, he shot a nice buck last summer and Huntin Fool just publish...

Re: Danny's Pronghorn Story

Let's see if I can make this work, haven't posted pics on here before. http://i674.photobucket.com/albums/vv109/dan_sozzi/Dannyandhisbuckprofile.jpg That was easier than I expected to put up the picture! Anyway, this buck was his 3rd choice, as the first two bucks we were after both got shot by othe...

Danny's Pronghorn Story

Last August, my son, Danny, succeeded in taking a very cool looking freak-horned pronghorn in northeastern California. The buck was 15 1/4" long, and his horns curved forward, out over his nose. Anyway, an article was just published in Huntin Fool Magazine about the hunt, so I thought I'd mention it...

Re: Your Favorite Elk Calls and Why?

I"m a big fan of open reed calls, as well as diaphragms. I particularly like the Woods Wise hyper hot call, have called in some great bulls with that call using it for mews as well as more excited type calling. Also the Primos open reed calls sound very good. I always have a diaphragm in my mouth wh...

Re: Favorite Rifle?

For me it's my model 70 in .338 win mag that I've hunted with since 1985. I shot the first barrel out, and re-barrelled with a Lilja stainless fluted barrell. I've shot a lot of game with it, from Brown Bear all the way down to klipspringer.
