Idaho Moose hunts closing

Another sad day for the Idaho Moose population. F&G is proposing to close three of the central Idaho hunts units-19a, 20a and 25. We own property and hunt in 19a. From 1997-2002 we would see 6-12 Moose while deer and elk hunting. After 2002 we would see fewer Moose each year. In 2006 we did not see ...

Where are the BIRDS????

I'm a long time waterfowler. I live in Boise. We usually crush the birds all December long. We shot alot of birds around thanksgiving and the couple of weeks that followed. One day we shot limits and the next day all the birds were gone. I was wondering if anyone else is seeing the same thing. Does ...

Re: Idaho Wolves-Here we go again..

I agree poaching wolves is not the answer to this mess. I really don't think that hunting wolves can control the population. Yeah we may harvest 150 in year in Idaho put that does equal the number of pups born. In eary July up French Creek on the main Salmon we say Parents with 6 pups. Lets say that...

Re: Idaho Wolves-Here we go again..

I share your concerns. I hunt elk in the salmon river mountains and we used to see 5-10 moose duringt the season. I've haven't seen a moose in 3 years or a track. Its the wolves. Mile high outfitters which hunt down Bigcreek in the Franch church wilderness area's have posted on their website that th...

High country mule deer

Ok mule deer experts i've got a good question for you. I went out this weekend and did some scouting around some 9000 foot peaks (subalpine). I hiked a total of six miles and only crossed one fresh buck track. So here's my question, are the bucks still making their way up into the high country or ar...

Re: I drew Unit 40 Owyhee Mule Deer

I live within 30 minutes of the unit. Lucky lucky lucky,,,, I've been putting in for that tag for a number of years. Everybody thinks when you draw a late tag in the owhyees all you have to do is drive out and shoot a 190 class deer. Think again. There are deer that will make the 200 inch mark put t...
