Re: 2012 Tough Wife's Muzzy Hunt

I hate hearing about situations like yours. I have had that happen to me quite a bit on the archery hunt. Frustrating for sure. But it sounds like you have an awesome hunting partner and congrats to her on filling the tag. I went 0 for 2 this year.

Re: Most accurate muzzleloader?

I have an older Traditions (Lightning Bolt??) and absolutely love it. It's light weight so packing in the trees is great, has a muzzlebrake so recoil is light, and I've killed a few elk at different yardages (70-150). It has a stainless fluted barrel and camo stock, looks good. The only bad thing ab...

Re: Which bullet for mule deer

Out of a 270 WSM, 110 barnes Tipped TSX or a 130 Tipped TSX?? If both shot the same groups, which do you prefer? The velocity, by the book, is 3550 for the 110 and 3230 for the 130. Are you dead set on these lighter offerings for your WSM? I picked up a .270 Win a couple of years back for a late se...

Re: Scouting, Part of the Hunt

I agree with so many of the posts. Scouting is getting out, getting to see what trails are out there and being used, finding water holes, beds, etc. Technology has made life and scouting somewhat easier and are good tools, especially with gas at $3.60/gal. This year, I picked up a trail camera to us...

Re: Bow rest

I had one once. It was ok, I didn't like the vanes making contact with the whiskers. It may or may not affect arrow flight, but I chose to switch to a fall away rest. The wife has the whisker biscuit now. It's easy for her to shoot with. The arrow stays put while she draws. Better for her.

Re: Advice on calls, cameras, instructional material

You just missed out on a smoking deal on some Moultrie M80 trail cams at Cabelas. They are my first experience with them, and what I like about them is, they are light and small, picture quality is pretty good. Just set them up in the field this last weekend so we'll see how well they do in differen...

Re: Manti elk hunt

Too bad that 50,000+ acres of it burnt down. I heard that Emery mountain is on fire now too. Just hearsay, I couldn't find any info on it on the web. Bad year to draw that tag maybe? inciweb.org is a website where they update the fire info daily.

Re: Who knows Abajo,SanJaun area

It's really steep and there aren't many 4wheeler trails. Which hunt did you draw? Rifle, Archery, Muzzleloader?

Mine was tagged last Friday. Drew a GS archery deer. A buddy of mine had his account hit yesterday. My sister in law drew a LE Deer (any weapon), pretty excited for her. =D>
