Re: Kids and hunting?

Taylor filled both of her tags this year. Such a trooper. She smoked a big fat cow @ 75 yards in October. http://i642.photobucket.com/albums/uu142/lancetkenyon13/2016%20Elk%20Season/20161015_075527_zpsf1n6cjsw.jpg And this past Saturday, she dropped a big mule deer @ 637 yards with one shot. http://...

Re: Unit 42 az hunt

42 ised to be a fantastic desert unit. It has been hit really hard over the past 10-15 years, and while to occasional big deer is out there, they are a lot harder to come by. I work in 42 every day, and have seen plenty of deer, almost daily, I still have not seen a brute this year. Yesterday, I did...

Re: Kids and hunting?

Well, an update from last fall before I go into the "luckiest kid alive" story for the upcoming year. On Taylor's 12AE early deer hunt, we saw 85 bucks, and 5 of which were bigger than anything I have even taken. We hunted super hard for 9 days, and unfortunately could not put everything t...

Re: AZ unit 7 general antlered mule deer tips

I have hunted unit 7 for 20+ years. Both deer and elk. There is a lot of pressure on that hunt, but I usually see decent bucks year round in certain areas. Try around Sitgreaves Mtn. Also the north side of San Francisco peaks. Depending on weather, watch the flats around Red Lake as well.

Re: Kids and hunting?

Luckiest kid alive! So my daughter just drew a Kaibab 12AE rifle mule deer tag for October. Going to be an amazing, busy, and hard hunting year. My 46 year old cousin drew the same deer and elk tags, so I will be trying to get two people animals on each hunt, and my older daughter and her husband dr...

Re: WHATS YOUR 2015 HUNTING PLANS

My younger daughter (13 y.o.) and my cousin have the same bull elk hunt in November, so I will be trying to get two bulls on the ground this fall. My cousin also drew a Kaibab deer tag, so I will be helping on that one too. My older daughter (24 y.o) and her husband both drew deer tags, but we are w...

Re: WHATS YOUR 2015 HUNTING PLANS

My 12 year old daughter drew her second year in a row bull elk tag in AZ, so we have that to look forward to. My cousin drew the same tag, so I have two bulls to find this year. M daughter's second bull, and my cousin's first! Deer applications are in and awaiting the draw.

Re: Binocular and Spotting Scope Use

I hunt AZ for deer/elk/etc. I use my 10x42s for most glassing within a mile for game. Anything further than that, or if something peaks my interest out past 1000 yards, I break out my 15x56s. I can glass out to 2 miles easily with the 15s. And if something looks big at 2 miles, you don't need a spot...
