Re: Anybody Javelina hunting in Januuary?
The thing that screws up the drawing is the "maximum point pool". Twenty percent of the permits in each hunt go to the people with the most bonus points. If a hunt has 400 permits, 80 go to those with the highest bonus points. So let's say that is your first choice, and you don't quite get drawn ear...

Re: Anybody Javelina hunting in Januuary?
I'm going, but I didn't draw my preferred unit. I drew my second choice, even though there were something like 400 tags left in my first choice at the time I was drawn. I wish they would fix a few of the bad spots in their drawing software... I drew turkey permit number 2, and got my second choice a...

Re: 2009 Montana Pope and Young Bull
Congratulations on a great animal! For those of you that probably don't know, Montana produces more P&Y bulls than any other state or province.

Re: A Second....second chance buck!
Gutpylz, I don't think it's the peep's problem, I think it's a problem with the string stretching. I'm not sure why it is stretching throughout each day! I replaced the string a month or so before my antelope hunt, but shot a few 3D shoots with it and had no problems. I also put a D-loop on the stri...

Re: 09 CO Archery Buck (pics)
Great job once again, Roy! I think I would have just had everyone in camp eat that bad boy for the rest of the week, so there wouldn't be so much to pack out!

Re: Coues Hunt in Arizona 36A
Jack, I don't know the unit, but if you don't have too much experience hunting Coues, I could advise that you are probably at too low of an elevation if you are seeing mule deer. Coues are more common above 4500 feet, and like thicker areas with steep hills and canyons. The mule deer in Southern AZ ...

Re: Ouch - Poor thing.
I was with a friend hunting elk one time when I very nice 6 x 6 bull presented a good shot for him. I had already taken my bull, so didn't have a bow and was just tagging along but about 20 yards away. He drew, and while I watched the bull, the arrow went through the bull's muzzle and was sticking o...

Re: A Second....second chance buck!
I actually leave for an elk hunt tomorrow. I'm hoping to try the more traditional method of making the kill the first time and not having to get lucky on the last day of the hunt!

Re: A Second....second chance buck!
However, the real purpose of my story was this past Monday, on Memorial Day. I have struggled for the last SEVERAL years trying to take a Coues Deer with my bow. The harder I've tried, the less success I seem to have had. Finally, a week ago, I had my chance! A huge Coues buck gave me a great shot a...
