Re: 1970's 40 inch buck

Great buck, thanks for posting. Sort of validates my claim to friends about a guy I worked with in Durango. He knew a 60ish age woman who lived on the Jicarilla who only shot 40" bucks or larger. Of course I questioned this seemingly outrageous claim so he brought the fotos she had given him to work...

Re: Monster Moose!!!!

Thanks for the info. It's so RARE that we get the details of these internet photos that get emailed around the world while leaving out important things hunters want to know to verify the photos. The current 'huge moose' going around the net looks like a 12' high moose coming out of the woods and wal...

Re: Pack frame

A freighter pack frame can run from 79.00 to 400.00 depending on where you get it. I got a great one from Cabela's for 129.00, Bass Pro has a simialr frame for 89.00 I saw whwn I was in the Denver store a while back. A professional forestry supplier gets near 400.00 for a simialr frams. So shop wise...

Re: Packing out a deer?

Here in Colorado, I have always field dressed the deer and drug them out, sometimes as much as a mile. Then I throw em in bed of my pickup and off the the deer processor in Gunnison. At 1.11 a lb its a bit pricey but they do such a good job and I dont have to fool with it and can go back to chasing ...

Re: TRED BARTA- PARALIZED

I am glad to read as of Sept 30 Tred is back home on his ranch in Eagle, is recovering the Barta way on wheels, and has a new tv show contract. Here's the Vail article from yesterday and a link to an interview a few weeks ago: http://www.vaildaily.com/article/20090930/NEWS/909309992/1078&ParentProfi...

Re: Keith or O'connor

Having read Jack O'Connor for 50 of my 59 yrs( I still read and re-read his books) I would say .270. The 338-06 is probably a fine cartridge, but I know of no General Store that sells them. As much as I hate everything WalMart(ChinaMart) they do have the cheapest ammo and do have some available, unl...
