Re: What frame pack for hauling elk
My local sporting goods store caries kelty packs and the one I tried on was very comfortable. The only issue is that I heard they premote anti hunter groups. Is there any truth to that? Other than that they seem great.

What frame pack for hauling elk
Sorry in advance if this should be in the optics & gear section but I am mainly asking for packing out Elk so hopefully this is the right place. What External frame pack board would you recommend for packing out a Elk out of deep thick mountains? I have a really good day pack coming (Horn Hunter Mai...

Re: My first Muley Buck (2010)
Thanks again everyone. I figure I won't start any new threads but wanted to share my other 2 kills that I got. The first one is my first ever kill that I shot at 15 yards from a tree stand. I had a big learning curve my first year and learned a lot through mistakes but finally was able to get a whit...

Re: Seen legit 200" buck?
I don't have any pictures yet of the 200+ inch guy we have in our area but I know that he is well over 200. Probably close to 220". I have another buck by my whitetail property that should be close this coming year. He went from a small 125" +/- 3 point to close to 170" 4 point with a kicker in one ...

Re: Alright archer's.. neeed lots of advice!
I forgot a few things in your original post. I'm using a axcel armortech sight with .19 pins and love it. It's fully micro adjustable which adds some weight to it but the fiber optics are fully enclosed so they cant get squished or caught on branches. It is a pricey sight but I think it's worth it. ...

Re: Alright archer's.. neeed lots of advice!
I'm shooting a 2010 Strother SR-71 at 65# and 27.5" DL. I was shooting 460gr piledriver arrows with 100gr slick trick standard broadheads. The bow has a little stiff draw to it but is rated at 353 fps so for a speed bow it isn't bad. It's a very "dead in the hand" bow at the shot with basically no v...

Re: Early season elk tips please
Thank you all for the tips. I'm going to be getting myself a bugle here soon and am going to really try to practice with it and I think that despite if I get good or not I will still try a couple bugles this season. Maybe I'll get lucky and a big bull will think I'm a annoying little spiker and come...

Re: My first Muley Buck (2010)
Thanks for all the kind words. I've really enjoyed this forum and have been given a warm welcome. Thanks again. Archer11 - most of this hunt was luck. I think that if you just keep putting yourself where the deer are you will get your opportunity. Stick with it and good luck. Linder - I think I'm so...

Early season elk tips please
This will be my secod year going on a early season elk hunting trip (archery) in the Rocky Mountains. Last year I had very little action so I'm looking for some tips for chasing elk in the first 2 weeks of September. I was told that for the most part all you really need is a cow call (handy for me a...

Re: N. Dakota mulies
I hunt in Alberta and where I hunt mule deer it is probably similar badlands areas. I currently have scent locker protec flees treestand camo which is fairly light colored and blends in well. Despite it working fairly good I think I'm goof to get some predator deception brown or fall gray camo for h...
