Thank you also. I was wrong the state record typical was killed in teton county in 1925 by an unknown hunter scored 217.

I don't know your area first hand and the only advice I can give you is to identify feeding and bedding areas, and glass the edge cover between the two at deer thirty(very early morning or very late evening). Buy the best glass you can afford including a spotting scope. You can never use your binocu...

You would do well to buy a book on the subject. "high country mule deer" by Mike Eastman or "Public land mulies" David Long.

There is a very good thread on this forum I found a couple years ago on this web site. If you can find it in the archives it is full of good info from someone who grew up in gypsum and hunted it for many years.

In researching that tag last year the biologist told me that most the deer have moved out of the higher elevations of the uintas by mid october. I could be wrong. Give the biologist a call. He was very helpful and knowledegable.

Look into the public lands between the williams fork mountains and hamilton. Access from the road is very limited by private land but there are a few spur roads that take you north through the private frontage to a strip of public land that isnt very wide but is very long and includes some deep cany...

My partner and I are hunting muleys there second season. 2011. If I find out anything useful as to elk I will post it. Bulls are a second thought so we don't have to go home if we tag out early.
