Sportsman's Moose Tag

Post by uvjfrank » Sun Aug 22, 2010 5:04 pm

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this site but a friend told me someone has some information about big moose in Utah this year. I have the Sportsman's Tag for moose this year and it's only my second hunt ever. If anyone's seen a big one worthy of this tag, I'd love to know. My husband and I have been searching the state but haven't found a shooter yet. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

What are your expectations so we know where to start? ------------SS

State record of course! lol
What is the biggest you have seen so far?
Hunt starts in less than two week but you do have 4 months to get it done.

Of course we'd like a moose for the books. Right now we're starting at a 50" spread or bigger. We've seen a couple that may be close but haven't gotten really good looks at them. But opening day is Sept. 1 so it's coming fast!

I heard there's a huge one up by Alta. Also, last year there was reports of a huge one up around Lambs Canyon. Good luck

Thanks - we'll go investigate! My husband corrected me - we'd really like to have a look at any bull moose 40" or bigger. A 50" bull would be fabulous but a little smaller may be more realistic. Remember, I'm new to this whole hunting thing. Thanks again!

Can't help you with the moose hunt myself, but welcome and BEST OF LUCK. Some guys on here have hunted them and have had a moose tag recently. Hopefully they will see this and chime in?
