Bobcat in the snow

Post by Bigd7400 » Sun Dec 05, 2010 12:35 pm

I'll have to say that my dad is having one heck of a 2010 season. First off he kill TWO nice 8pt whitetail, a 10pt whitetail (you can kill 3 bucks here in VA) and now a bobcat. He and his buddy went hunting this past saturday during a snow shower. My dad was out to knock down a doe for the freezer and for management purposes and figured the front would get them moving. He set up in a little pop up blind on a saddle in the ridge and waited. Well before long he noticed something moving in the mountain laurel thicket to his right, and it didn't take long to find out what it was, a Bear. Dad was not too worried at the time thinking the bear would move on without much thought but as he watch the bear for more than 20 minutes it kept getting closer until it was within 10yds. So dad promptly stood up through the open window in the blind yelled and scared the bear off. He thought his day was over at this point but not more than 30 minutes later this big bobcat strolled by and met his maker. It was definitely an old male as he barely had any teeth left but he will make a great mount.

Nicely done, not easy critters to kill.
