Minnesota double
Minnesota double
Me and my buddy shot these two toms off of the same setup. I was calling for him, but had a tag and brought my gun. When these two big toms strutted up, it was all she wrote.
His bird (on the left) weighed 20.0 lbs and had an 11 inch beard
My bird (on the right) weighed 21.5 lbs and had a 10.5 inch beard

Re: Minnesota double
Thanks everyone-
We had a really good time doing it. It was my buddies first turkey, so it was cool to share the hunt with him.
We took them during a special hunt that is only open to soldiers who have deployed since 9/11 that is put on by the State of Minnesota on Camp Ripley. Camp Ripley is a state game refuge, but is open for some select hunts for Whitetails and Turkeys.
Actually, if you are a bowhunter want to hunt some big whitetails. There is a hunt that is held every fall. It is a lottery, but anyone can apply not just soldiers, and it isn't too tough of a draw.
Thanks again
