.410 shot recommendations for grouse

Post by WillysDad » Sun Aug 17, 2008 9:36 pm

Ordered a H&R Pardner .410 for rabbits hare etc... Hadn't really given forest grouse a thought.

What recommendations do you have for shot?

When I was a kid I used #6 for everything from my .410.
The more people I meet the more I prefer dogs!

If your planning on using it during the Archery Hunt..don't. :>/ Get a judo tip and go quiet...

A friend of mine loads his own 28 gauge loads for grouse. I believe he loads a #6 shot. I would imagine that a .410 #6 load would be a good choice too.

Good luck hunting the grouse.

If he wanted your opinion on what tip to put on his arrow, I'm sure he would ask.

However, he was asking what size shot to use for grouse when he's hunting with his .410, which is a shotgun, not a bow.

When we were out bow hunting my buddy took 3 grouse down with his bow - one of them right through the neck. Made for good eatin' that night over the fire. :thumb
