late Northern success

Post by one hunting fool » Tue May 05, 2009 8:47 am

Well after changing plans mid stream I got it done. We spotted this tom from 2 miles away and stalked up to within 20 yards to finish the job it was a slow last 200 yards but by the time I got into his strutting den it was all over. I wasn't quite sure where he had gone so I was sitting there thinking I had blown my stalk when he walked up from a small valley right in front of me. He turned not really knowing what to make of me and stuck his head up high. One quick shot and he was done.
Here are some pictures off the road when we got back to the truck.

he had 1 inch spurs and 8 1/2 inch beard and it felt like 30lbs by the time i got back to my truck from the 2 mile walk but he was closer to 20lbs :thumb
Look out Idah next weekend i am a certified "turkey killer"!!!!
