I like it. I've seen the T-post fittings that many camera manufacturers make & you just make your own (inluding the post) for less.
I would love to be confident enough in the area I put my cameras up to do something like this... in my recent thread I mentioned the first camera that I put out this summer was near a seep out in the open & a setup like this would definitely give me a lot more options. But security up there is a real concern for me.
I wonder if you could swap out the wood backing for something like PVC? I've seen on This Old House (when I'm not in the woods it's all about home improvement!) that they now make PVC "lumber" and they say it mills up just like wood and never rots. I've only ever seen it in white so it may not be the color of choice.

Derek,

Good point on PVC or different backing. I'm sure you could, what's the name of that decking material that lasts forever? It's not cheap I know but is awesome.

My parents are building a home in your neck of the woods... you're welcome to raid the construction site to see if they have some scraps!!!
