first mule deer

how do you age mule deer? this buck looked really old...

(next on my list is a west texas muley...maybe next year.)

Congrats on your first deer. :thumb It's a good one and an excellent one for a first buck. You should thank our wife for letting you take the camera. This was my first year to kill something while having a good digital camera in my back pack. I sure wish I had some digital photos of the bucks that have been taken out the valley we hunt in . There have been some good ones.

Not sure on the ageing question. I've heard that one sign is very worn molar teeth. One old buck my buddy took had only nubs left where the molars should be. This old buck had to gum his brose. I was surprised that he seemed as healthy as he was. Other than teeth I'm not sure.
