What do you photo gurus think of this band and lense:

I use the same lense on Nikon cameras and it works well. Wish I could afford a better one but for a bunch more money I don't know that I get that much better pictures.
This was done with a 70-300 Sigma on a D70 Nikon.

Maybe 30 yds. It was a really stupid thing. I got carried away trying to get the picture and got closer the him than I was to the truck. Stupid, stupid, stupid!!!!

Okay my next question is this.
Is the IS feature on a lense realy that much more nessecary. Especialy while taking photos of say moving animals or sports. To me it seems that the stabilizing feature is not going to do a whole lot when you are moving the camera with purposly anyways.
