Deer Recovered (interesting story)
Re: Deer Recovered (interesting story)
I've heard that barnes bullets are a little picky as far as seating depth goes.... Barnes recommends seating the bullets .05" away from the rifling (to give them a little jump start). I messed around with seating depth and found that being .07" away gave me great groups at 100 yards in my .308 using the 165 TSX. If you haven't already, I'd try seating them a little longer and giving it another shot.

Congrats on finding your buck. No worse feeling than losing an animal. He is a beautiful animal.

Congrats on finding your buck!! That is a great looking deer and now has even a better story to go along with him!
Re: Deer Recovered (interesting story)
I can completely understand this story. I wish I had been so lucky as to be able to continue tracking the whitetail I hit the same way this year. I was just too cocky and didnt focus my aim point enough for the running shot and hit him in that "empty" zone between the lungs and spine.
Congrats on teh recovery!~
