never seen collars on deer or elk other than in pictures.

I've seen collared Bison, but never Deer.

You'd think that with technology today they'd come up with something a little bit "sleeker" than a leather strap with a box & antenna on it.

I saw a couple of does with the same type of collar near Pilot's Peak this summer...It seems they could make them smaller.

In Nevada the units that deer usually migrate into during the winter months (along the California/Nevada border) its pretty common to see collared deer. We had a trail cam set up this year and got several collared deer and even more deer with ear tags. I also know that on a sheep release here in Nevada quite a few of the sheep that the NDOW captured and then release had collars put on them.

since collared doves are freebies to the bag limit, you would think they would do the same for deer. :)
