So I was up in bountiful up by the b an herd gun shots sounding like a low caliper weapon I look across the canyon and see too guys with rifles slaughtering some mule deer and some larger animal I quickly called it in I was on the phone with them for over 30 min then it took easily an hour in a half by the time they got up there the loaded up the animals an were gone I would have went and made contact with them or see where they were going or get a license plate but i wasn't familiar with the area on how to get over there. So the officer said he's gonna go back up during the day and find more evidence. It's too bad they couldnt of had better response time.

That is one problem with our conservation officers. They are spread really thin and have a ton of area to cover.

I wished if the DWR couldn't respond in a qiuck enough manner, they could have a city or county officer detain the people until they get there.

That is really unfortunate. They dont have a lot of winter range as it is right there and for people to be up there poaching is terrible. Were they using spotlights? Was this in the middle of the night?

Good for you for calling it in!!!! Too many folks wouldn't have.

I also think that approaching them wasn't the wisest thing to attempt (Glad to hear that you could not...didn't know how to get to where they were). Men with firearms breaking the law may just turn them on you if they feel that they have been busted. It would have been great to get a vehicle description of something like that but you did what you could do. Good on ya!

I hope they catch the SOBs!

Did you get a description of the vehicle? Color, style, any significant markings?

Many times the smallest detail can break the case wide open.

Were you close to a reservation? Indians seem to have very overly liberal hunting seasons and bag limits; at least they do in my neck of the woods.
