Arizona Unit 21 Mule Deer

Post by wendt76 » Fri Aug 10, 2012 12:53 pm

Hello everyone,

I am new to this site but not new to hunting. I have been drawn for this hunt in Nov9-15th fron mule deer rifle. I have hunted this unit but it has been 10+ years. Was wondering if anybody has hunted this unit recently and could help me out. Any info is much appreciated. i will be hunting with my 66yr old Dad and would like to get him a shot at a buck. Thanks again. Mike

I know unit 21 great born and raised in the hills of lower unit 21 hunt it for the last 10 years and have shot a few very nice desert deer with my bow and rifle. There are a few really nice deer in the unit but u need to hunt it hard to find them get on the tallest mountain possible and just glass, glass and glass some more. as far as roads go depends on what you like to hunt such as desert or juniper pinion country. If you like the desert look toward the bartlett lake area close by the lake there are some good washes that run into the lake. I would also try the seven springs area was burned a few years ago but the deer are coming back. if you like the higher country dougas road off the I 17 is another place to look more deer but alot more people kinda of a mad house opener if you go down the road farther people will kinda fade out but go toward pine mountain will hold some good deer every year. good luck on your hunt hope to see some pics. :thumb
