Henry Mountains Rifle Deer Tag

Post by Idaho_B&T » Mon Jun 02, 2014 9:34 pm

Well, all my years of bad luck have been redeemed. I was blessed enough to draw the Henry's rifle tag for this fall. I had 10 points, which means I got the random tag....LONG odds. Anyway, I live in So. ID and am a DIY hunter. I already have three scouting trips planned. This area is new to me, so I would appreciate any input or advice anyone has. I am so excited, I cannot even think straight from day to day....it is going to be a long summer. Anyway, any input is MUCH appreciated!!! newmaninidaho AT yahoo DOT com Thanks!

Congrats on an awesome tag. :thumb

I had that tag back in 2010 and had a great time. Let me dig around in my files and pictures and I'll type something up when I'm not so tired.

Never been there sad to say, but you have probably the most coveted tag in the whole state of Utah. CONGRATS on winning the lotto. :) Hope you get some help, and put the smack down on a beauty.

So lets get started here.

After you arrive in the area of your hunt you will have to start your way up the mountain by going through the desert lowlands.

With some interesting features on the way.

As you work you way up the environment will start to show more signs life.

Until you hit the mountain and start the climb.

Slowly getting up the mountain to get set up for the night.

To be continued.

Up the next morning to head out scouting.

And make you way up to the high country.

Then find some places to glass.

Can you see him?

Now?

Off they go.

Move to the next area and keep glassing.

We then went back to camp to shade up just like the deer did through the heat of the day.
