CA Mule Deer

Post by BOHNTR » Sun Nov 30, 2008 7:03 pm

I just spent the last 5 days camping in the Eastern Sierras over the long weekend. I can't remember it being so warm after a snowstorm....but it sure was. The BIG bucks aren't down yet so it seems.

Saw quite a few "medium" sized bucks. The best scoring buck I saw was a mid-170's net type 4x4.....up in the snow near 8000'. I also glassed one of the biggest forked horns I've ever seen.....about 31" wide with 5" G1's (eye-guards).

Here's some photos I took of the medium sized bucks. Hope you enjoy.

These next two bucks have a lot of potential if they make it another season. How wide do you think this one is?

Here's a decent buck that has the genetics to become a great scoring buck. Give this buck two years and he'll be a smoker for California!

Those are some great pics BOHNTR! Congrats on a very successful camping trip! That's too bad you didn't get any pics of that huge 2 point, I would have loved to see that! Thanks for sharing the photos anyways, some sweet bucks there!

I have to know.. How wide is that first buck of the 2 bruisers?

Great pics Roy!!

You're right, those last two have everything it takes to become a couple real pigs.

As for the spread on the one youngster....looks to be around 27" to me. Very impressive!

Great Photo's Roy, looks like you had fun. I would say that wide buck laying down is right around the magical 30" mark.

Again awesome photo's.

sweet pics and its nice to see some pics out of CA, i haven't seen pics of very many nice bucks from there and for how wide your buck is i would put him at about 28 give or take an inch.
