09 CO Archery Buck (pics)

Post by BOHNTR » Sun Sep 06, 2009 8:26 pm

Here's my 2009 buck from the Colorado high-country. Not long points, as he's a fairly old buck that's regressing (he had a dime sized ear tag that gave me exact age from CDOW) with some great mass (20" per side). He's 29.5" wide and sports 4" G1's (eye-guards) along with a 3" in-line between his left G2 & 3. He'll score in the low 170's gross and will net in the 160's.

I arrowed him in the late afternoon and hit him a bit further back than I'd like (liver)......he ran straight down-hill out of the open tundra and into the timber-line. I let him go over-night and found him piled up about 200 yards from where I arrowed him. One TOUGH pack out for sure......a lot of meat and sore feet. More photos to come.

Saw A LOT of bucks this year........but I was in a totally different wilderness from last year.......this area had little impact from the winter-kill two years ago. First time in this area......beautiful country for sure.

Congrats Roy

Jeff told me last week that you had taken a dandy and I have been waiting patiently for the pics.
Great massive buck. Where do you put all these monsters? :thumb
