Meat Processing

Post by crunch14 » Thu Oct 29, 2009 6:05 pm

We have always butchered out own deer until this year. Unfortunately illness and schedules required that I take my deer to a butcher shop.

I was wondering how many of you process the meat yourselves and how many send it out to be done? Did it take a while to find someone who does a quality job?
Just remember they call it hunting not finding. It's all about the stories.

I hunted in ely this year - about 5 hours from home. me and a friend both filled our tags on the opener and decided to have it processed there. We just asked around and the locals gave us some really good advice - butcher did a GREAT job on everything(even the breakfast sausage) so I would ask around. He did mine for 95 bucks plus $3 a pound for sausage.
