Illinois Youth Sets Turkey Harvest Record
Hunters participating in the Illinois youth wild turkey season harvested a record number of bird this year, with Jefferson County ranking highest in the south zone.
The 2012 record is higher than last year’s, according to a press release sent from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. There was a total of 1,300 birds harvested in the state this year, compared to 748 in 2011.
