Deer hunter apparently killed by friend's shot

Post by elklover » Thu Nov 22, 2012 3:30 am

SUPERIOR, Wis. (AP) - Authorities in northern Wisconsin say a deer hunter who was killed this week was apparently shot when his hunting buddy fired at a deer and missed.

The Douglas County sheriff's department identified the victim as 27-year-old Garrett M. Carr of Oliver.

Authorities say Carr was hunting Monday with 31-year-old Michael F. Thompson of Superior. Warden Dave Zebro says a preliminary investigation suggests that Thompson fired at a deer but the bullet hit Carr in the head.

What season and is the wearing of orange required? If so, did they both have orange on?

One of the commandments of hunter's safety is to ensure what is behind your intended prey when pulling the trigger.
It ain't the size of the gun but the placement of the bullet.

So not only do we need to watch out for our friends but apparently we need to watch out for our dogs shooting us also...
