CONTINUED,

This second buck is not as wide but even taller than the first. They ran on a string directly to the thornbush that had my markers on it, stopped and sniffed the towels ( or their buddy laying 2 ft away ) and ran back to a small spur ravine that ran off of the main. They calmed down, milled around a little bit, and looked as though they were going to bed back down. I hot footed it back about 1/2 mile to the truck, grabbed my 2 hunting partners, and off we went. I put them on each side and went through the bottom all the way until it petered out at the Oat field. Nothing. Gone

Moral of the story - These 2 old trophy Whiteys had held tight for over 1 1/2 hrs while I shot, traveled, crawled, broke brush, cussed, and sweated buckets. They were less than 50 yds away from me and never gave themselves up unil they thought (?) I was gone. Had I not looked back toward the markers for my buck I would never have even suspected that they were there

Magical Times in The Mountains

Good Hunting

Spike

I wonder how many of those old WT die of old age out there.
Good job on your buck, good looking deer.
