2006 Kansas Monster

Post by TheGreatwhitehunter » Tue Dec 11, 2007 12:08 pm

Some of you may already have seen this buck my friend Gerry and I were hunting in Eastern Kansas in 2006 on a swap hunt I had set up.
I invited my friend Gerry to come along and he killed this buck with a rifle.

He grossed 282 and netted 266 and change he is currently number 24 in the world but may drop a slot or two depending on what bucks were killed this year. he had 27 points and was 27 1/2 inches wide. He is also the #2 all time in Kansas as a non typical. He was belived to have been a 300class deer but die to broken tines he may of lost over 23 inches.

He would make the book eitheras a typical or a non typical but was entered as a Non typical.

Here are sheds that were found in 2004 and 2005 one by a farmer and the other by kid these were the sheds from the buck in 2005 Gerry killed the deer in 2006.

Council Grove in Morris county.

No big secret as 97% of Kansas is PRIVATE

He was kinda a local legend of sorts everyone knew about him just not very many people if any had permission to hunt ont he properties the deer roamed. We just got lucky as I got hooked up with the right landowner.

Scott, That is as good as it gets, congrats to Gerry. All it takes is a place for bucks to grow old. Some genetics, good food. :thumb Looks like Kansas has it.

Thats right. I do a lot of turkey hunting in the Council Grove area as a matter of fact killed my biggest bird there at the lake. Nice country....And yes Kansas 97% private and about 96.8% leased. I'm just kidding but it seems that way anymore.

Yep lots of leased land.

A friend of mine and I leased up a large chunk of ground so I could come and hunt every year.

As far as council grove goes I have never seen so many turkeys WOW!!!

I was seeing 25-40 birds a day deer hunting. And not the same properti]e either.
