Thanks for the comments All :thumb

The Story; I stumbled across this while pheasant hunting about 1985. Being a old bone hunter I'm always looking around for stuff, and I've got an interesting collection.

I was letting the dog work a thick young stand of Cotton Wood, common along the Powder River of South Eastern Montana after heavy flooding. Heavy Winter snow and Spring rains caused high water and flooding that Spring and a lot of debris of all types lay around every where and some of the stuff was pretty cool. So I was collecting, I recall missing a few birds because of all junk I carried. Anyway, I'm looking around studying stuff and I see these white tines sticking out of the silt, I pull on them, stuck pretty good.
Not wanting to break off a antler I dug the rest out. The antlers were firmly attached to the skull. I assume the rest of the carcass was there too, but I got the good stuff and the rest could stay buried forever.

Its hard to tell how far from up river the current carried the deer. I wasn't all that far from Wyoming, who knows where it originated. I hunted this ranch for a few more years, for both deer and birds. Always looking for sheds hoping to find matches from the previous years. Although sheds were plentiful in those days, never came across a non typical.

Side note: My rancher friend died suddenly. [in His early 40's] His Widow sold the Ranch shortly afterword. New owners leased out the hunting to a outfitter. Where I had the run of the ranch free for two decades. The last I heard it would cost 4 to 6 thousand for a week of hunting. Oh Well.
