Kansas Tag

Post by 6x6 bull » Mon Jul 13, 2009 4:50 pm

Just got my Nonresident tag in the mail today. Kansas is always a fun state to hunt. My wife is such a big MU fan that she hates that I even go to Kansas to hunt. I told her I'm not changing my allegiance for the Tigers just my location of where I'm hunting.

I hunted with an outfitter friend of mine a couple of years ago and saw some monsters but didn't get one though. My friend the owner of CK outfitters was also hunting and out of one of the stands that I hunted that week he killed a huge bodied 150 class buck. He still doesn't let me forget that I told him to put me in another stand because I wanted to see some more country. I hunt the east central part and did it DYi on public ground last year.

Good luck 6X6! Yea, it's tough for Mizzu fans to stomach anything about Jayhawkers, isn't it?!

I hunted unit 9 up next to Nebraska (walk in hunting area) 1week in September and 3 day's in december. would have done better with a few more days to hunt in December but I also had an Iowa tag and you can't miss Iowa. good luck with your hunt.

I'll most likely hunt on the public ground that I killed my buck off of last year. It was in unit 14 but I can also hunt in unit 11. If you have any advice for me on good spots I'm all ears. Here is a pic of the buck I got last year. Image

6x6, Congrats on drawing your KS buck tag. That's a dandy of a buck from last year. I applied for a point this year and hope to draw a tag in a year or two.
