You need to try a few different brands in your rifle to find out what your rifle shoots best.

I have always had good luck with Hornady ammo

In factory loads I like the Federal Premium line, but ultimately let the rifle decide. The 7mm-08 is known for it's accuracy so you shouldn't have any problem shooting well with about anything.

Federal Premium is excellent ammo but comes in a variety of bullets from different bullet makers so you will still need to try several. The best thing to do is buy several boxes of different bullets and test them out to see what groups best out of your rifle.

Or if you reload or want to start you can try different loads and find accuracy that way.

The best advice I can give you has already been given. Let your rifle decided what it likes by running a number of different rounds down range. My rifles tend to like Win Fail Safe's, which aren't made anymore, so I'm in the same boat as you as I need to find another round.
It ain't the size of the gun but the placement of the bullet.

I do agree that it's hard to beat Federal Premiums as far as factory ammo.
