I shoot with a few different wakeboard companies and we have used the go pro with great success. They are very rugged, waterproof, and provide a great wide angled view. I've heard that they are in the process of making some major changes to allow a viewing screen and a few other things so may want to keep an eye out for that or get the current style at a good price! I have also heard there are better ones out there, but for some reason the gopro's still seem to be the most popular? If you look on trackstar1.com, a guy from norhern utah can get you a good deal on them...just tell him I sent you his way and he'll work with you!

I have a GoPro HD and a Vio POV 1. The video quality on the GoPro is outstanding, you just need to make sure you have the computer resources to edit the HD video. Vio has just come out with an HD version as well, but is much more costly than the Go Pro.
In my opinion, the VIO is much more rugged than the Go Pro. But they are two different styles of cameras. The Vio has a tethered bullet cam with a remote recorder, while GoPro is a self contained unit. Each has their pros and cons.
With regards to the view finder for the GoPro, it is available now. Is is called the LCD BacPac and retails for around $80. It attaches to the GoPro and comes with a new, bigger waterproof camera housing.

I tend to use my Go Pro for action sports like mountain biking and wakeboarding, and the Vio for hunting. The Vio is easier to attach to the barrel of a gun or to my bow.
