I dont know why but when i see bucks like this when they are falling head over heels on rocks smashing their horns around it makes me cringe just thinking about if they snap off or something but i guess their horns aren't as fragile as i thought.

Re: Utah opening day buck- falling after being shot
Cool Video! I can't believe the antlers did not break off. Earlier this year I hiked Timpanogos with my son on the opening day of the rocky mountain goat hunt. We saw a guy shoot a goat at 345 yards above him on a cliff edge. The goat fell about thirty yards to a shale slide and then slid for about 150 yards. The goat lost one horn in the fall. Unrecoverable due to all the shale. What a bum deal for a once in a lifetime hunt.
Later on the muzzle loader hunt, my brother in law shot a big two point buck. The buck went down instantly and did not fall down a mountain side, but one side of the antler broke off just above the base when the buck hit the ground.
All I can say is you are very lucky to have your antlers intact. Nice buck!
