What to do with 3 points in Wyoming

Post by Tyewire » Wed Feb 02, 2011 9:33 am

Hey Guys, I once again want to lean on the great people of this web site. My wife and I have been putting in for Wyoming antelope points for 3 years now and I was thinking about trying to cash is this year. My question is what unit? I plan on taking the whole family. I have a 12 year old, 9 year old, and a 5 year old. I have a travel trailer and plan on taking that to camp in.

So I guess my question I have is what would be a good unit to use our points and introduce my family to hunting?
My wife has hunted deer here in Oregon a few times and never antelope. I have hunted one time for antelope and been on three other friends hunts. My goal is to have a great experience with my family and come home with two respectable animals.

What do you think about unit 68?

Thanks for any advise in advance :))

The biggest antelope I've ever seen was walking right down the middle of the road in Jeffrey city (basically a ghost town) Which is right in that area. There are quite a lot of goats in that area and lots of BLM land to hunt them on. You could do worse. The terrain lends itself well to stalking. Not much around for the family to do if they aren't hunting though. I see no reason not apply for that area.

Thanks SRM. I appreciate the input. My hope is to get my kid involved in the hunt some how if possible. At least the older two. Thanks again :)

Tywire,
Try going over to 24hourcampfire.com and posting a question over there. There are several guys from Wyoming and the surrounding states that have hunted antelope pretty extensively and may have and be willing to share their insights about that unit.
