I'm going to put this out and see what every one thinks
It's time for another toy:
this rifle will be used for varmints (all called in)

Savage model 10 Predator hunter Max 1 (243)

Howa model 1500 with new tumbhole stock (243)

GMMC Lower, DPMS upper (reworked new) (204) ($300 more than others)

I will be mounting a nikon 4 X 14 Scope on top

Mark, I would choose them in exactly the order you listed them in;

1. Savage 243
2.Howa 243
3.204

I tried to build a varmit gun on an AR base, and I have to say that I never could achieve anything that I was truly happy with. Granted, I came from a bolt action/benchrest background, but I know that you are an extreme accuracy guy as well. I think it's great that you are looking at the 243. Too many guys overlook what I believe is the premier long-range varmit gun. I have one in a cooper model 22 and a 6mm in a custom gun. They both shoot a 55bt with a higher bc than a 22 cal bullet of the same weight right around 4k fps which is a stretch for most standard 22's. Then there are my favorite little pills.....the 70gr BT. These are a coyotes nightmare coming from the barrel of my Cooper at around 3600fps killing any dog I can get a good shot off at out to 500yds or so. So....I say buy the Savage in 243 and never look back. Happy shooting----------SS
