Federal .308 165 grain Sierra GameKing BTSP?

Post by TexasHunter83 » Tue Apr 09, 2013 7:31 pm

Hey guys, I picked up a box of this factory ammo, listed on the subject line, and was curious if anyone had any accuracy info on them. I will be shooting them from a Weatherby Vanguard S2 and will be trying to zero it at 200 yards. Any personal experiences with this ammo would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

My dad shoots them out of .30-06 they are hand loads but the same bullet. The are very accurate and he's never had a problem with them.

I appreciate the info. I've never shot them personally but was curious about it. I've generally read that they are a really accurate round. It's nice to know. It'll be a few days before I shoot but I'll post my experience with them. Thanks again!

I finally got a chance to break away from work and do some shooting with these rounds. I have to say I like them. The first 3 shots were on the left side and the last 3 were on the right. After the first 3 shots, I adjusted 2 clicks to the right and ended up with the right-side group. I had one flyer, I think, due to me compensating a little for recoil. If you look close the top right hole is actually 2 holes almost on top of each other. On the right hand group, the first shot was at the top, the second shot was the "flyer" closer to the bullseye, and the third was back up next to the same hole at the top. I was shooting at 100 yards and trying to zero it in at 2" high @ 100yds. I think she'll be pretty close at 200 yds. I've attached picture of the grouping below.

I caught myself trying to "split hairs" with the grouping until I realized that all 6 of these shots are within the diameter of a Pringles can lid...
