wipe-out

Post by sneekeepete » Tue Dec 15, 2009 9:28 am

Anybody tried the wipe out bore cleaner? It looks like pretty good stuff just curious if anyone has personal experience with it.

Some swear by it. I have not used it but I have used the Gunslick Foaming Bore Cleaner. Seems to work pretty good. I'll run a wet patch of solvent first and then run two dry patches. I'll then use the Gunslick foam and let it sit for 30 minutes. Patch usually will come out black and blue. I dont stop there though... I'll then go to work on the bore with more solvent and brushes.

I'm one of those bore cleaning perfectionist types.

Here's some info about wipeout.

I use shooters choice for routine cleaning and sweets for the tougher fouling when needed. Here's my tip, always use nylon brushes no matter what solvent you decide to use and never use an un-coated rod. Happy cleaning!!!! Sucks, but necessary.-----shooter

Shooter I am like you but I use Hoppes for regular cleaning then use the Sweets for bad fouling. Maybe I will get some of the wipe-out stuff and test it and let everyone know what I think. Thanks for the replies fellas.

Rifle looney Jim Carmichael once wrote that he "used Hoppes #9 for cologne and if the smell of it turned the girl off he wouldn't ask her out for a date." I subscribe to that theory. lol
