Mossberg or Remington?????

Post by Tysum » Tue Jan 05, 2010 4:40 pm

I am looking at getting into a new shotgun for turkey hunting & I am trying to decide between tactical shotguns that Mossberg & Remington make. Any thoughts or suggestions between the two?

for your choices you posted:
Remington

If you are open to others
Benelli
Auto: Super Black Eagle II
Pump: SuperNova
both are capable of shooting 3 1/2 "

The Mossberg 835 has an overbored barrel and will out pattern the 870 100% of the time. I have had two 870 Supermags and three Mossberg 835's and have patterned all of them with several loads. I shoot a Benelli SBEII these days due to the benevolence of my employer and my record setting sales performance in 2008. I love the Benelli but I would never spend $1500.00 of my own money on a shotgun. I honestly would take the Mossberg 835 over the Remington 870 that is produced these days. Remington is having a lot of QC problems but, I would like to possibly try the new 887 Nitro for fun.

Ill stick with my Browning Gold, and my Benelli Super Black Eagle, some day hopefully ill pick up a browning maxus :not-worthy but my buddy has the 835 and hes had alot of problems with it, and just in my opinion the remington is gonna be better, but thats just my opinion... by the way did yall hear about Remington having the drawing for the 10,000,000 870?!?!

Nothing Wrong with Mossberg’s; they have improved their firearms by leaps and bounds, to the point that the US Military carries their shotguns. It’s a personnel preference thing.
(Question: do you want to shoot a Walther or a Colt? Both of them fine firearms, which one do you prefer? Same question Tysum asked about choice of shotguns)

OFF the soap box:
Tysum: have you been out to Ben Avery Shooting center north part of Phoenix, they have shot gun rentals for the shoot gun range out there. You will be able to shoot several different brands and see what you like best

Best of Luck
