North cache bull found

Post by ddtruth2 » Sat Oct 08, 2011 11:15 pm

I went up hunting today on the general spike elk hunt. Came across a nice bull. Don't know what he may have died from. He was laying in a weird position. The limited hunts are over guess someone could have lost him.

Here is another pic. I talked to fish and game. Going to hopefully go back up and check it out with them. If it died naturaly I may get to take it. Seemed real weird that it would have died in the position I found it in. Who knows though.

Pretty cool and amazing find, I doubt he died of natural causes and my best guess is the same as yours. Some one hit him and couldn't find him. Hope you or the owner gets him not the DWR.

Has anyone had experience dealing with the dwr on this kind of thing?

Nice looking bull. Looks to me like he died from something other than natural causes. Hope you get to keep the antlers.

Those antlers look sweet. I hope you get to keep them.

Wow, that's crazy. It looks like something other than natural causes in my opinion. Nice looking bull, hopefully you can keep the antlers.

Nice bull, It is a shame if someone lost him. If Utah is like Oregon you will have to tag it to take it out of the wood legally.

It would be cool to have his antlers. But if I don't get to so be it. He is not my trophy. All I did was stumble across him.

I Have the DWR on speed dial. I have reported many things from poached elk (right off 89 in Logan canyon), abandoned elk quarters to poached moose in SLC. I still have never heard back from any of my reports. I was told that they would contact me about a big mule deer that I found, but it hasn't happened. Good luck with the bull. If it was poached I hope they string 'em up!
Where did you find it? South Cache?
