Hello folks Elkhunter49 here and I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.
I'm a bonnafide Elk Nut that lives way to far from Elk country. I'm not the world's
greatest hunter by anyone's standard but I've hunted for over 30 years now and
have Elk hunted for over 15. I'd say my sucess ratio is pretty average by my own
admission but I've taken a couple decent bulls and several cows. To me the hardest
part of Elk hunting is getting drawn. I've hunted Colorado numerous times and New
Mexico I think 4 times .
As I said I'm not THE MAN when it comes to elk hunting but I'm more than willing to
share what I know. In Colorado I've hunted 66 several times before it became a draw
area so it's been awhile back, 49 one time before and will be going again this fall (1st rifle)
and 140 several times.
In New Mexico I've only elk hunted in 34 one time years ago and 36 in 2004 I think.
I've deer hunted alot in the SE part of the State.
When I'm home in Texas we hunt whitetails, axis and hogs.
Anyway guys I'm enjoying reading alot of your post and hope to have something to add from
time to time. Take Care. Baker

::wel to the site. There may be a few "worlds greatest hunters" on here, but most of us are like yourself and just happen to get lucky once in a while. Thanks for the post.

Welcome to the Forum. I am also a new member who enjoyed looking at the posts so much I decided to join myself. Just like yourself I am no expert by any means. Strictly a waterhole sitter in the early season, but I love the thrill of the high country so much that my wife says that I would mortgage the house to go. I to am just collecting points it seems but some day my lotto number will come up and I will get that hunt of a lifetime.

Now take your hunting equipment, your quiver and bow, and go out into the open country and hunt some wild game for me.
