A few years ago I shot my first buck with the bow. The shot was good but he went out of sight and fell into some pretty thick stuff. I took me 5 days to find him and that was do to the smell that he put off. Keep at it youll find him.

Well this is the worst news ive had in a long time, feel sicker than a dog. Went down in the tamaraks where we thought he went.... and there was drag marks of a deer being dragged out. I dont know if it was my deer but i have a feeling it was. I will keep look for him and crossing my fingers i can find him. If someone took a buck that wasn't rightfully theirs they are sick sick people. Maybe ill get luck and they will return him? Not likley, just not good news guys.

He is dead…. I had the same thing happen last year to me.
There were 3 bucks 1 huge 3x3 (155”) 1 2x2 and the buck I got.
I was shooting at the biggest buck at 50 yards my arrow was deflected and went over his back and hit the smaller 3 point right up the butt…. New best place to shot deer… he went 14 yards and piled up. What a blood trail, I have hit deer in the hart and not had this much blood. I thing you must have gone into his ham and then into the guts. How long did you back out? 4-5 hour min on a gut shot. With no pressure he would go 300-500 yard before laying down.
Good Luck!!

Just take your arrow and place it next to your body and look at the penetration you got. Look at how many vitals you took out. Ill go on record saying a Texas heart shot like you described is one of the most deadly shots. Most deer shot like this wont go a hundred yards. The buck is definitely dead and is not far from the location of the shot.

Unfortunatley I know how you feel. I shot a nice whitetail a couple of years ago quartering away. Gave him the minimum 1 hour to lay down and proceeded on a bloodtrail that looked like a highway. I kept saying to myself, he's got to be right up here. I found my arrow soaked in blood with about 18" of penetration and said again he's got to be right up here. Long story short, I tracked that deer for 2 miles and 12 hours that day and the 2 weeks thereafter and never found him. Looking back on it and talking to several different folks I think my mechanical blade deployed and straightened up on impact and I shot him in the liver. I probably should have waited 12 hours before I started tracking him.

I hope you at least find your bucks horns, because it is a sick feeling.
