Federal Fusions for Muley's 7mm-08 140's

Post by Fatty » Wed Jul 07, 2010 10:27 am

I'm looking for experiences here on Muley Madness for information on Federal Fusion 140 grain load for 7mm-08.

I have a Remmy 700 LSS (22" barrel) that I've hand loaded Nosler Partitions with that have worked extremely well. I'm moving away from hand loading (time) and wanted to ask about the Fusions.

Has anyone on here used them?

Thanks fellas,

I tried them in two rifles, a Remington model 700 30-06 CDL and a Ruger model 77 MKII 7mm Remington Magnum. Both rifles are consistently sub moa with several different loads including factory and reloads, however, both rifles would only print 1.25-1.5" with Fusions. That is suitable for most in a hunting rifle, but I don't like leaving .5" on the table.

I shot a monster muley with 140 or 150 grainers out of my .300 win mag. I was really impressed. Not a huge amount of damage with good penetration. Thumped him hard and were very accurate when I was sighting in.

My son used them in his 7x57 on a 190" buck last year and dropped him in his tracks at 215 yards right through the shoulder. I believe the 7x57 is pretty close to the 7mm-08, if that helps.
