Totally agree- practice shooting at many ranges and the short ones become quite a bit easier.

I like to be prepared for the long shot, but in reality you have to take what the game gives ya. If you can get closer with out spooking the game into the next county thats what i do. If i can't get closer and the game is within my practice range, i prepare and make the shot.
For me, i want my freezer filled, i don't want a long blood trailing job. I strive for 1 and done.
